In Professor Soskolne's clinic patients are advised as to what causes their periodontal disease and a personalized treatment plan recommended based on a thorough clinical and radiographic examination. The recommended treatment is based on the primary goal of maintaining all the teeth and there supporting tissues. Extractions are recommended only as a last resort. The first phase of the treatment is directed at controlling the infection, stopping the disease process and preventing any further destruction of the teeth and their supporting structures. The second phase of the treatment consists of correcting any anatomical defects that may have resulted from the disease. If this phase is necessary it may include routine periodontal surgery, surgery to regenerate lost bone and soft tissues and procedures to improve the esthetics of the dentition. If teeth are missing or need to be extracted implants can be placed and if necessary surgical procedures to increase the width and height of the bone and bone augmentation of the floor of the sinuses ( sinus lifts) can be done.
Other necessary treatments are carried out in collaboration with the patients dentist or
dental specialist in the required field.
The clinic also provides the third maintenance phase of treatment. This includes regular examination, oral hygiene care and treatment follow up by our hygienist under the close supervision of Professor Soskolne.
